I travel with Ryanair or EasyJet. What I need to know about baggage policy?

• Ryanair – New Baggage Allowance policy, valid as of Nov.1st,208

As of November 1, 2018, passengers who have not purchased a Priority Boarding and want to get a second larger suitcase (10kg) on their trip must purchase a 10kg check-in baggage at the cost of 8 € / £ during the original booking of the ticket, or 10 € / £ when booking online up to 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the flight.

Passengers who have not purchased a priority boarding and have not added a baggage to their booking can buy the 10kg suitcase and the airport at the cost of 20 € / £ at the check-in desk, or 25 € / £ at the boarding gate.
Furthermore, the allowable dimensions for small hand baggage have been increased by 43% - ie: from 35x20x20 cm to 40x20x25 cm.
During the reservation or by checking-in online, the customer is given the option of either selecting Priority Boarding or not.

Non Priority

If a passenger has not purchased Priority & 2 hand luggage, they are not allowed to take the trolley bag in the cabin. Baggage will be transferred to the baggage delivery at the gate, free of charge.
The small baggage should not exceed 35x20x20cm and should be able to be placed comfortably below the front seat.
Failure to comply with the above, will result in a charge of € 50 per item at the departure gate.

Priority & 2 hand luggage
Only customers who have purchased Priority & 2 hand luggage, will be allowed to take their usual hand luggage in the cabin.
The small baggage should not exceed 35x20x20cm and should be able to be placed comfortably below the front seat.
Failure to comply will result in a charge of € 50 per item at the departure gate.

What's the difference from the old cabin baggage policy?
According to the old policy, all non-priority passengers could carry 1 (small) baggage and 1 larger (with wheels) baggage, free of charge.
The larger baggage was handed over to the gate, receiving a sticker, and was stored (free of charge) in the luggage compartment of the aircraft.
This led to delays as signs had to be placed in up to 120 luggage and could not complete the arrival / departure process in less than 25 minutes.
As of November, non-priority passengers will be able to carry 1 free (small) baggage - they will not be able to carry second baggage free of charge at the gate. Only priority passengers will be able to carry 2 free baggage in the passenger compartment (1 small + 1 with wheels).

• EasyJet – Baggage Allowance

Hand Baggage
• Maximum dimensions of Hand Baggage should not exceed 56x45x25 cm (including wheels, pockets and handles).
• There are no weight restrictions on a piece of hand baggage with reasonable dimensions. For example, the passenger should be able to safely place and get hand luggage from the cabinets over the seats without assistance.
• Any hand bag, briefcase and / or notebook case should be carried within one hand baggage.

Checked Baggage
• Passenger's name or other personal identification data must be included in checked baggage.
• Each piece of checked baggage must not exceed the total dimensions (ie, length + width + height) of 275 cm, except for objects accepted for transport as athletic equipment.
• Each piece of allowed luggage shall be charged. During the booking process (through the ariline's website), the passenger may, upon payment of the fee, be entitled to carry up to three pieces of luggage delivered per passenger depending on the type of his ticket. The current online charge appears during the booking process where the passenger declares that he wishes to travel with checked baggage.
• Upon payment of the relevant fee, the passenger is given a maximum permissible weight of either 15 or 23 kg per piece of luggage checked, depending on the product he has chosen. If the permissible luggage weight is exceeded, you can only increase this weight by paying the overpayment fee per kilo for up to 32 kg per piece of luggage, according to the Airline fees. The maximum allowable weight for each item of baggage is 32 kg (depending on the type of passenger's ticket). Checked Luggage that exceeds the abovementioned weight will not be accepted.
